Bushfire Assistance for South Coast Families

The team at Roundabout Canberra is devastated  by the awful fires that have impacted so many of our neighbouring regional towns.  As Canberrans we have so much love for the South Coast and we’ve all spent many wonderful holidays in the beautiful towns that make up that part of the coast.

Roundabout will be accepting referrals to help families in the coast areas in need of essential baby and kids items.  Roundabout is able to assist with clothing (aged 0 – 14 years) as well as a range of other items including cots, prams, car seats (where we have item availability).

Referrals will need to come through social services (coastal or Canberra based) and any inquiries can be made via info@roundaboutcanberra.org or our Facebook page.

The Roundabout team of volunteers are working behind the scenes ready to assist when the emergency subsides and people begin to rebuild.    We may do callouts for urgent items via our Facebook.  We will open for general donations from 20th January 2020 and will be in need of volunteers to assist from then.

A list of items that we are able to rehome can be found here.

January is generally our busiest time, and combined with the expected increased demand due to the bushfires, we are asking people to please double check items prior to donation.  Ensure all items are freshly cleaned to enable us to get them out quickly to a family in need.   We ask you not to donate anything that is ripped, stained, damaged, torn or broken. If you wouldn’t pass it on to your best friend – we are unable to take it – the families we help deserve items in excellent condition.

If you have other items to donate such as adult clothing, linen and furniture, consider listing through GIVIT who will link items in with the most appropriate charity.

There are some items that we are currently running low on which means we may struggle to keep up with demand.  Consider donating money to allow us to provide essential items to families in need.  You can donate here and donations over $2 are tax deductible.

We are always looking for volunteers to help us sort through, pack and collate goods donations.    More information on volunteering can be found here.
