Schools & Community Groups: Get Involved
At Roundabout Canberra, we believe every child deserves a safe start and every family deserves dignity. Schools and community groups play a big role in helping us make that possible.
When children and young people talk about giving and get involved in helping others, they develop empathy, kindness, and social responsibility. They see that small actions can make a big difference and understand the importance of dignity and inclusion. These experiences also build confidence and a strong sense of community.
How You Can Help
- Start the Conversation
Talk with your classroom, school, or group about the value of giving, the importance of dignity, and how volunteering makes a difference. Our Guide to Giving has ready-to-use activities and discussion starters. - Run a Goods Drive
Collect quality baby and children’s items with your group. You can choose a theme (like winter goods or back-to-school supplies) or run a general drive. Our Guide to Giving outlines what we can accept and tips to make it easy. - Fundraise Together
Host a dress-up day, gold coin fundraiser, school disco, or create your own idea. Every dollar raised helps us provide essentials like nappies, toiletries, cots, and prams to local families. We’d love to support you in running a fundraiser, and encourage you to get in touch so we can support you in your fundraising journey! - Invite Us to Speak
We’re always happy to visit schools and community groups to talk about dignity, giving, and the impact of volunteering. If you’d like a member of our team to speak at your assembly or event, let us know.
Children under the age of 17 are welcome to volunteer individually with a parent or guardian during our regular volunteer sessions. Unfortunately we can’t currently accommodate school groups or youth groups, but we would love to work with you to find the best way for you to support the work we do at Roundabout Canberra.
Yes! We can deliver presentations or talks to groups, classrooms or your whole school about the work we do and how you can get involved. Please email us fundraising@roundaboutcanberra.org to find out more or request a date. Please note if your community group meets outside of work hours we will try our best to accommodate.
We’re so grateful for your support! Goods donated by the community ensure we can provide local children and families with the items they need. If you want to organise a goods drive with your school or community group, we’d love to hear from you at fundraising@roundaboutcanberra.org.
